Meet the Doctor
Jill Harbin, Doctor of Chiropractic, BS, MAEd
Dr. Harbin graduated magna cum laude from Life University College of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia in March of 2015. She received her Alabama Chiropractic License in April of 2015, after passing parts one through four and the physiotherapy National Board Examinations. She opened her own practice, Functional Health and Sports Chiropractic, in October of 2015. Dr. Harbin attended Calhoun Community College from 1990-92, where she played softball and received an Associate's degree in general education. She then went to Samford University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training in 1994, and then a Master of Arts in Physical Education in 1996 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She taught health and physical education for seven years until her mother was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. After her mother's passing, she did not return to teaching, but became a personal fitness trainer for the next six years before deciding to pursue a doctorate degree and career in chiropractic. Dr. Harbin has also been an active sports official for over twenty years for high school and recreational sports for softball, volleyball, and basketball. She was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, where she currently resides with her two pug children, Avery and Jacie.
Dr. Harbin believes in the philosophy to "treat others as you would want to be treated," and spends quality, focused time with each patient in order to analyze and treat each patient according to specific, individual needs. She believes that the source of the pain may not always be where the pain is located, but uses a full body approach to diagnose and treat each problem a patient presents. Dr. Harbin has several different adjusting methods to accommodate each and every patient, and is not always about "popping bones" as some may believe. As one of the very few chiropractors in the area, Dr. Harbin is certified in extremity adjusting, as well as a certified practitioner in full body Active Release Technique, which addresses soft tissue and nerve issues of the entire body. She also proficient in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), which is a diagnostic system designed to clinically assess seven fundamental movement patterns to find the specific cause of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Not only limited to neck and back pain, Dr. Harbin is able to treat the majority of musculoskeletal conditions for the entire body including, but not limited to, the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles, feet, and nerve entrapments. Since chiropractic is considered a primary care specialty, no doctor referral is needed. Try chiropactic as your first option, not your last, as it is affordable and effective without the use of prescription medications or surgery in getting you back to functional health.
